The CCC baseball team had a rough day as they hosted the Broome CC Hornets, dropping both ends of the doubleheader and only scoring one run on the day.
In game one, Corning jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at the end of one-complete inning but BCC answered by scoring in each of the next 5-innings, inlcuding 3 in each the 3rd and 5th. Broome scored 11 runs on 13 hits and took advantage of four Corning errors. For CCC, Jared Cosgrove hit a double and collected the lone RBI while Niq Sinsabaugh went 2 for 3. Pat Fero took the loss giving up 6 hits and 4 earned runs in four innings of work.
Game two saw the CCC defense play errorless ball but the 14 hits BCC put in the book was enough to score 10 runs. Corning managed only three hits, including a Kevin Childs triple. CCC's Will Griffin saw his first plate appearance and went 1 for 1 with a single. Corning's defense turned four double-plays on the day.
Corning next travels to BCC for a Thursday DH and then hosts Finger Lakes CC on Saturday.
