Baseball Spilts With TC3
The CCC Baaseball team held on for a 5-4 victory over MSAC rival TC3 to earn their first win of the season. For Barons fans, the game had them on the edge of the bleachers until the thrid out in the 7th inning.
The CCC Baaseball team held on for a 5-4 victory over MSAC rival TC3 to earn their first win of the season. For Barons fans, the game had them on the edge of the bleachers until the thrid out in the 7th inning.
Austin Hill pitched a gem allowing only four hits in six innings work while striking out five to earn the win. Niqalas Sinsabaugh entered in the 7th to earn the save. Cyle Ham had an oustanding day at the plate going 4 for 4 with a double. Kevin Childs was 3 for 4 with an RBI and also doubled while Zach Lebarron recorded an RBI. Ham also came up with a key defensive play for Corning as he threw a TC3 runner out from right-center field trying to tag from 2nd to 3rd on a fly ball. The Red Barons defense turned two double plays in pivotal situations to preserve the win. CCC took a 5-2 lead into the sixth innning but TC3 fought back to score one in the 6th and one in the 7th to close the gap to one run.
Game two was a much different affair as CCC out-hit their opponent 7-5 but four errors enabled TC3 to pull away with the 9-0 victory. Corning's Cody Whitmer was 3 for 3 in the nightcap. Jeremy Brenning pitched four solid innings only allowing 2 hits, but gave up 3 earned runs. Whitmer also threw out two TC3 runners attempting to steal. Will Griffin entered the game in the 7th inning for CCC and collected a single and then stole his first base of the season.
Corning hosts Erie CC Saturday at Tuller Field in South Corning.
