Baseball Sweeps in First Ever Game Played on Campus

The CCC baseball team celebrated their first ever game on campus on their new turf field in grand fashion sweeping Columbia Greene CC 7-4 and 6-3.

In game one, the Red Barons found themselves down 4-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning but managed 5 runs to pull away from the Twins.  Back to back walks and a hit batter loaded the bases for Corning.  Junior Jimenez hit a sacrifice fly to plate a run and then CCC tied the game on a passed ball.  Tyler Troccia then blasted a two-run homerun to put corning ahead for good.  Jimenez also doubled while Justin Judson went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.  Starter Dylan Perry went 4-innings allowing 4 earned runs on 2 hits and striking out 5.  Ryan Delgado earned the win and save entering in the 5th allowing one hit and no runs in three innings of work.

Game two saw Corning have another big 6th inning, again scoring 5 runs in the frame.  Hunter Price smacked a first pitch into right center to plate 2 runs then Corning scored again on a fielders choice. Judson came through in the clutch again delivering his third double of the day with 2 outs that scored the final two Red Barons runs.  Mario Caraballo pitched 4-innings, allowing one earned run with 5 strikeouts and four hits.  Curtis Pierce earned the win entering the game in top of the 5th with the score tied 1-1.
