The Corning Community College baseball team swept the Onondaga Lazers at home Thursday afternoon by scores of 1-0 and 3-2.
In game one, Dominick Teoli pitched a 3-hit shutout striking out 5 and walking 2 batters. Offensively, Corning had four hits, all singles, courtesy of Junior Jimenez, Curtis Pierce, Matt Hicks and Tyler Troccia. Troccia's 3rd inning single brought home the game winner for the Barons.
Mario Caraballoearned thew win combining with Hunter Price an Jordan Prisellaout of the bullpen. Caraballo gave up 2 runs on a homerun off the bat of the OCC designated player Paul Fitzgibbons. The Corning defense was outstanding and came up with several clutch game saving plays by the outfield. Rightfielder Dylan Perry threw out a Lazer trying to score on a fly ball in the 3rd inning and then came back to make a diving catch with runners on in the 6th to end the inning. Centerfielder Justin Judson made a diving catch with two-outs and a runner on second to end the game and squash any hopes OCC had of a comeback. Perry singled, Judson doubled and Manolin Terrero tripled for Corning. A Troccia double plated 2 Corning runners.
Corning travels to Jamestown CC on May 3rd for a 2pm doubleheader.
