Baseball Player Judson Named Male Scholar Student Athlete of the Year

Corning Community College Athletics is pleased to announce the 2015-16 Benny Hunziker Male Scholar Student Athlete of the Year Award winner.  This award is named after long-time CCC professor and friend of Athletics, Harold "Benny" Hunziker.  His support of Red Barons Athletics, CCC student athletes and their academic success has been unwavering.  This award is giving annually to a male and female student athlete that displays excellence in the classroom as well as on the field of play.  They must display high moral character, act as leaders on and off the field and exude qualities that make CCC proud to call them Red Barons.

The male student athlete of the year award goes to a young man that has been a role-model student, teammate and citizen.  Justin Judson, from Elmira High School, has been a two-year starter in centerfield for the Red Barons baseball team.  This past season "Juddy" led the baseball team to a 16-win season, their best season in the past 8 years.  He hit .369, with 24 runs scored, 38 hits – 9 were doubles, 2 homeruns and 21 RBI's.  Most impressive, was the range he displayed while roaming the outfield.  Justin robbed numerous opposing hitters with diving and sliding catches let alone his ability to run down balls in the gap that others couldn't come close to.

Justin is an Engineering Science major who graduated last week with a 3.33 GPA.  Justin will be attending Clarkson University in the Fall and will play baseball for the Golden Knights.
