Elmira High School standout Jerick Guinta has signed his NJCAA National Letter of Intent to attend Corning Community College and play basketball for the Red Barons this fall. Guinta, a 6'4 guard, averaged a double-double this season for the Express knocking down 13 points a game and grabbing 10 boards. Elmira Coach Ryan Johnson was pleased that Jerick chose CCC; "Jerick made a very mature and wise decision when he had multiple offers on the table. He made a choice that was most academically, financially and athletically responsible for him. He is a great kid, hard-worker and comes from a very supportive family. He will fit in well at Corning and I'm happy I will still be able to see him play at the next level."
Corning Coach Isaac Bushey had this to add about Guinta's commitment; "He is a great addition to our program and team as he is a perfect fit on and off the court. Jerick has the unique ability to play multiple positions at 6'4 while providing floor spacing and he is a solid rebounder. As a person, he is a "team-first" guy and brings a competitive edge to practice day in and day out. We are very excited to have him as part of the program."
