Bowlers Have Solid Results Over the Weekend

The men's and women's bowling team travelled to the Schenectady, NY are over the weekend for two-events against some of the top teams in Region III and some strong four-year schools.

The men finished 4th out of 9 teams on Saturday at the Boulevard Bowl Classic and 9th of 13 at the SCCC Invitational on Sunday.  At the Classic, Korey Kennedy finished 3rd of 68 bowlers in the all events category by averaging 236.  Kennedy and teammate Troy Kimble finished 7th out of 34 doubles teams and Kennedy topped off an outstanding day by winning the singles title.  At the Invitational on Sunday, Alex Boughton averaged a 201 and finished a team-high 19th of 96 bowlers in all events.  The team of Alexander Sovie and Boughton finished 5th of 48 teams in the doubles competition and Kimble was 21st of 96 in singles.

On the women's side, Saturday saw the women finish 3rd of 6 teams and Sunday 2nd of 7 teams. Saturday, Natasha Evans finished 13th while teammate Kayla Coolbaugh finished 14th out of 46 bowlers.  The team of Amanda Becker and Temma Comfort took 7th in the doubles and Evans finished 8th of 46 in the singles competition.  Sunday was another strong showing for Coolbaugh as she finished 5th of 49 in all events with a 190 average.  Coolbaugh teamed up with Victoria Maracle to take 5th in doubles and Coolbaugh was the runner-up in the singles event.  The Corning women are 47-11 overall, 21-3 against NJCAA teams and 13-3 in Region III competition.  

The Red Barons will participate in the Region III Tournament on February 22 at the Pin-O-Rama Bowling Center in Utica, NY.
