The CCC women's and men's soccer teams hosted Onondaga CC for a MSAC Conference match-up on Tuesday afternoon. The Lazers managed to hold the Barons scoreless for 180 minutes and walked away with two conference wins.
In the women's contest, Corning keeper Aja Gosper continued to keep her team within striking distance as the sophomore "phenom" turned away 25 OCC shots, many diving saves, in the 2-0 loss. Gosper has tallied a total of 216 saves to-date. OCC got on the board as they scored at the 20:36 mark when Olivia Ferlenda connected on a pass from Courtney Ellis. The Lazers struck again at the 71:36 mark when Ellis tallied a goal of her own. The Corning offense was never able to get going as they managed a mere 5 shots on the day.
On the men's side, the lone goal was scored 38:52 into the contest and belonged to OCC's Abdei Hirabi as he managed to get a foot on a ball that was bouncing around the Corning box. The Barons pressed hard and continued to make the OCC defense work but couldn't find the back of the net. All stats supported the fact that the game was evenly played. OCC managed a one shot advantage over the Barons (13-12) and Corning recorded two more corner kicks than the Lazers (7-5). Corey Swarthout tallied 6 saves for Corning.
