Men's Soccer Has a Big Weekend With Two Wins Up North

The Corning men's soccer team travelled up North this weekend to face North Country CC and Clinton CC in big Region III match-ups.

Saturday, it took an extra three-minutes of play before the Red Barons could come away with a  win.  Logan Brimmer scored for Corning the 32nd minute of play off an assist from Gerald Maher to put CCC up 1-0 at the half.  NCCC would tie the match wth 14-minutes to play on a PK.  In OT, Maher sent a corner kick into the box and Alvaro Estrada headed the ball past the Saints keeper to get the 2-1 win.  Corning outshot NCCC 20-6.

Sunday, coming off their first win of the season, the Red Barons stayed hot as they earned a 2-0 win over Clinton CC at Plattsburgh State.  Corning scored both goals in the first half.  Estrada scored off an assist from Junior Coulibaly 6-minutes into the game and Estrada struck again 10-minutes later off a ball from Jose Garcia.  Corning once again outshot their opponnet 18-3.  Joshua Harrison recorded his first collegiate shut-out in the net, recording 2 saves. 

Corning travels to Genesee CC Wednesday for a 5pm kick-off.
