The Corning Community College men' soccer team fell to Mohawk Valley CC 7-3 Sunday afternoon on Spencer Hill. Mohawk jumped early on CCC scoring in the 18th-minute on a crossed ball in front of the net, then again 3 minutes later from 5 yards out and in the 22nd-minute extended their lead to 3-0 with a shot that re-directed off a defenders foot and past the Corning keeper. With 15-minutes remaining in the first half, Corning's Cheick (Rocco) Coulibaly took over. Coulibaly fired a rocket from 15-yards out to beta the MVCC keeper to the top corner on a Sam Nunez assist. Five minutes later, Coulibaly struck again as Dalton Steiner fed a perfect pass up the middle of the Hawk defense.
10-minutes into the second-half, MVCC scored off a Corning defensive miscue and then extended its lead to 5-2 with 14-minutes remaining in the match. In the 79th-minute, Alvaro Estrada turned in the box and blasted the ball past the Hawks keeper to the lower corner to bring the score to 5-3 but in the last six minutes, the Hawks would score twice to seal the win.
The Red Barons host Roberts Wesleyan JV on Sunday, September 18 at 4pm and then travel to Onondaga CC on Wednesday, September 21.
