The CCC softball team split with Division II Frederick CC on a cold and cloudy Sunday afternoon in Maryland. In game one,the Corning bats were as cold as the thermometer and the FCC bats heated up in the 5th and 6th innings to score 7 runs and run away with the 10-2 win.
In game one, Mollie Peck went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and McKayla Hutley also went 2 for 3. Game two saw the Red Barons finally come to life in the last three innings to score 13 runs and take the 14-7 win. Mollie Peck stayed hot at the plate as she hit her 2nd and 3rd doubles of the day and went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's. Becca Hendrickson was an impressive 4 for 5 with 3 RBI's while Sammi Moffe went 2 for 3, Aja Gosper 3 for 5 and Emily McCracken 2 for 5. The Barons tallied 16 hits in the nightcap. Nicole Sutryk was stellar on the mound as she threw a 6-hitter and allowed only one earned run with six strikeouts.
The game two loss was Frederick CC's first of the season. CCC comes home from Maryland with a 2-2 record against the Division II schools they competed with.
