Corning Sweeps Jefferson in Softball DH

The Red Barons offense erupted for 33 runs in 11 innings as they completed a convincing sweep of visiting Jefferson CC on a cold afternoon atop the Spencer Hill campus. Game one was an 18-3 Corning win in 5-innings and Game two saw Corning out score their conference foe 15-7 in 6 innings.
Nicole Sutryk got the win in the opener throwing a 7-hit, 9 strikeout performance. The CCC defense was solid, committing no errors. Aja Gosper smashed her first homerun of the season while Sutryk helped her own cause with a grand slam. Gosper finished the game 3 for 4 while Britany Ladd was 2 for 3 and Becca Hendrickson was 3 for 4. Hendrickson collected 4 RBI's while Mollie Peck produced 3 RBI's.
The nightcap saw Sammi Moffe record her first victory on the season with an 8-hitter while allowing 3 earned runs. Sutryk, Ladd, Moffe and Hendrickson each doubled for the Red Barons. Hendrickson went 3 for 4 (finishing 6 for 8 on the day) while Gosper was 2 for 3 and and Mollie Peck went 3 for 5.
Corning improves to 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in MSAC Confernce and Region III play. Jefferson starts the season 0-2. The Red Barons travel to Monroe CC on Tuesday for a doubleheader.
