Softball Splits with TC3
The CCC softball team travelled to Dryden, NY Tuesday afternoon to play a doubleheader with a TC3 Panther squad they hadn't beaten in the last eigth attempts and came out with a split. The games saw both ends of the spectrum as game one was a 9-inning nailbiter and game two was ended with the 8-run mercy rule after 6 innings.

Corning took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 4th inning before two infield errors resulted in four TC3 runs. Corning answered in the top of the 6th as Mollie Peck led off the inning with a double and then scored on a slow roller hit in the infield. TC3 had two on with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th when a Panther sent a long ball to deep center field. CCC centerfielder Aja Gosper made a phenominal diving catch at the fence to rob the homerun ball and end the inning. Each team scored in the 8th and TC3 managed to get the game-winner in the bottom of the 9th to take the 6-5 win. Peck and Colie Sutryk doubled for Corning and collected 2 RBI's each. Peck was 2 for 4 in game one.
Game two saw the Red Barons bats come to life as they pounded out 13-hits. Every batter in the CCC line-up recorded a hit in the game. CCC had a big third inning, scoring five, but TC3 answered in the bottom half collecting tow of their own. The teams exchanged runs in the 5th before another 5-run explosion in the top of the sixth put the game out of reach for the Panthers and sealing an 11-3 Red Barons win. Peck stayed hot and smashed two more doubles while Emily McCracken, Colie Sutryk, Sam Erbach and Becca Henrickson all doubled as well. Courtney Sutryk collected 2 RBI's while Gosper, Peck, Moffe, Erbach and Colie Sutryk had one RBI each. Peck went 3 for 4 in the nightcap and 5 for 8 on the day while Colie Sutryk was 2 for 3 and Erbach was 2 for 4. Colie Sutryk earned the win in the circle allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs.
Corning hosts Jamestown Olean on Thursday for a 3pm DH and then travels to Broome CC on Saturday for an 11am doubleheader at Bagsai Softball Complex in Binghamton, NY.
