In their third game in four days, the Red Baron women were able to dig deep and pull away from a scrappy North Country squad. Marissa Pike hit two consecutive three-pointers right before the half to put CCC up 26-22 at the break.
The second half saw neither team lead by more than one point until seven minutes left on the clock when the Barons started to pull away. Pike led the charge again nailing another pair of three-balls to put Corning in the drivers seat for good. Pike finished the contest with a game-high 25 points but the real story was the play of Chelsea Lehman and Sarah Dickson. The two hustled up and down the court creating turnovers, battling for loose balls and cleaning up some big offensive rebound baskets. Lehman finished with a career- high 16 points and Dickson scored a career-high 13 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Mollie Peck was limited to only two points but found other ways to contribute by dishing six assists and collecting ten rebounds.
Corning next plays at TC3 on Tuesday and then is home again Thursday as they host Finger Lakes CC.
