The Corning Community College women's soccer team travelled to Maryland this weekend to open the season with matches against the College of Southern Maryland and Anne Arundel Community College.
Sunday, Corning bounced back with a 2-1 victory over AACC. Jessica Hickey scored both Corning goals, one coming in each half. In the first, Hickey scored off a free kick from Mackenzie Warner. In the second half, a through ball from Crawford found Hickey and she was able to bury it in the back of the net. The match was very physical from the start but the Corning defense kept composure and provided quality support for Prestirdge who ended the match with 10 saves.
Corning hosts Broome CC on Wednesday, August 31 at 4:30pm.
