The Corning Community College women's soccer team was blanked at home Sunday in a 2-0 result as they hosted Mohawk Valley CC. The Hawks scored their first goal 13-minutes into the contest and took a 1-0 lead into the half. Corning had three opportunities to score but couldn't find the back of the net. In the 65th-minute, MV was awarded a PK and scored to extend their lead to 2 goals.
Shae Green had an outstanding game defensively. Early in the contest, Green threw her body in front of the goal to save a would be score off a keeper deflection in the middle of the box that left the net unoccupied. Jory Caldarelli provided a solid effort and great minutes off the bench. Corning goalie Rae Ann Prestridge had a great game recording 19 saves, many difficult saves, to keep the Red Barons in the game.
Corning has a week off and travel to Onondaga CC on Wedensday, September 21.
