Corning CC and Monroe CC Team Up for Dig Pink Event
Thursday evening the Red Barons travelled to Monroe CC for their last regular season volleyball game and a Dig Pink event. Dig Pink is something of an October tradition with intercollegiate volleyball as teams across the nation don their pink for the day to bring awareness to breast cancer, celebrate the survivors and honor those who have lost their fight.

Monroe was able to defeat the Red Barons in four games (22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 9-25) that seemed to simulate a roller-coaster ride for the Baron faithful. Corning came out of the gates in set one and went toe-to-toe with one of Region III's top three teams before falling 22-25. Sets two and four looked like a completely different team as Corning struggled to get their offense going and only recorded 4 kills in each of those sets. Set three saw the Barons play consistently as they recorded 14 kills and only 4 spiking errors in 34 attempts. Defense seemed to be the only mainstay for CCC as it produced numerous good rallies throughout the match. Corning's Gina Parrillo and Chelsea Hutsick were solid defensively as they each tallied 7 digs. Evelyn Caceres (11) and Mollie Peck (10) combined for 21 kills and Hutsick collected 28 setter assists and 10 service points.
Corning will take part in the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship this Saturday at Jefferson CC. Corning is the #4 seed and will square-off with #5 Broome CC in the first round. The winner of that game will advance to the semi-finals against #1 seeded Jefferson CC
