The Red Barons volleyball team had a key Region III event Saturday and came away 2-1 on the day. CCC beat Mohawk Valley CC in three sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-17) and defeated Herkimer CCC in four sets (25-14, 25-13, 23-25,25-7) before falling in three to Fulton Montgomery CC by scores of 18-25, 12-25 and 14-25.
Mallory Sullivan continued to lead the way for Corning as she had 30 kills and four blocks on the day while Kaitlyn Weaver had 14 kills. Kayli Westervelt added 16 kills and had 20 digs and Kiersten Bamford had 17 kills and 5 blocks. Jordan Raupers finished with 72 setter assists on the afternoon while Lindsea Jones had a team-high 22 digs.
Corning is now 13-9 overall on the season and travels to Onondaga CC on October 8 in a pivotal MSAC Conference match-up.
