The Corning volleyball team traveled to Auburn, NY Saturday to face Cayuga CC, Onondaga CC and Jefferson CC in key Region III contests.
Corning opened the day against host Cayuga CC and came away with a four-match win by scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-12. Jordan Raupers led the offense as she recorded 14 kills and collected 22 setter assists. Kaitlyn Weaver added 11 kills and Angelena Maio had 11 digs. Up next for the Red Barons was Onondaga CC and again Corning took the four-match game 24-26, 25-12, 25-15, 25-18. Amber Edwards came up big as she pounded 11 kills and recorded 2 solo blocks with a block assist while Weaver added 9 kills. Whitney Hauptman recorded 24 setter assists and served up four aces while Sammy Mennig had 11 digs and Sarah Heveland added 8 digs. Corning fell to Jefferson to end the day in another four-match game 20-15, 25-19, 18-25 and 22-25. Edwards had 12 kills, Weaver 11 kills and Alyssa Mosher added 10 kills. Weaver and Mennig led the defense as they each posted 13 digs.
Corning is now 8-2 overall and travels to Herkimer CCC this weekend to face Herkimer, Fulton Montgomery CC and Mohawk Valley CC.
