Opening weekend saw the women's volleyball team in action at Monroe CC this weekend to face their hosts, Northampton CC and Jamestown CC.
In game one, the Red Barons squared off with Northampton and fell in three-straight by scores of 14-25, 18-25 and 22-25. Alyssa Mosher had 12 kills and Amber Edwards had 4 blocks. Sarah Heveland recorded 17 digs. In game two, Corning faced Jamestown CC and got the win in four-games; 26-24, 27-29, 25-19 and 25-23. Edwards recorded 13 kills and 4 blocks while Mosher added 12 kills. Heveland and Samantha Mennig combined for 31 digs and Whitney Hauptman tallied 36 setter assists. In the last match-up of the day, the Red Barons faced the defending Region III Champs in Monroe CC. The Tribunes took the match in four-games by scores of 25-16, 15-25, 20-25 and 27-29. Mosher continued to be an offensive threat and added another 12 kills to her days total. Heveland and Mennig combined for another 28 digs.
Corning hosts Broome CC on Wednesday, August 31 at 5pm.
