The CCC volleyball team defeated Adirondack CC, North Country and Hudson Valley CC this weekend in key Region III match-ups. Against Adirondack, Corning dropped the opening set 20-25 but cam e back to take the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20. Amber Edwards had 21 kills while Alyssa Mosher added 14 and Danielle Mihalik and Angela Frampton each had 12. Whitney Hauptman had 50 setter assists while Sarah Heveland had 27 digs and Edwards recorded 23 digs. In the second game of the day, the Red Barons took three-straight from North Country CC by scores of 25-4, 25-1 and 25-6. Lauren Sprague had a match-high 5 kills and Rosemary Peckham added 3 kills. Heveland attempted 36 serves; 16 of which were aces. To close the day, Corning faced Hudson Valley CC and won in three-straight; 25-13, 25-15, and 25-16. Mosher had 12 kills, Edwards 8 and Frampton 7. Heveland tallied 12 digs.
The Red Barons improved to 12-8 on the season, 9-2 in regional play and will travel to Niagara CCC on Saturday to face Erie CC, Niagara CC and Jamestown CC.
