Corning Community College Director of Athletics Isaac Bushey has announced the hiring of Joe Horne as the next Head Coach of the Red Barons Baseball program.
"From the very beginning of the search process, Joe's energy, enthusiasm, and passion for coaching stood out. I was incredibly impressed by his vision for the future of Red Barons Baseball and his belief in what this program can become. Just as importantly, it was clear how much he wanted to be here and be a part of our college community. Joe brings an outstanding recruiting background and a proven ability to build relationships with student-athletes, which will be invaluable as we continue to grow our baseball program. We are excited to welcome him to the Red Barons family and look forward to the impact he will have on our student-athletes and the future of the program."
Horne joins the Red Barons after spending the past two seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Misericordia University, where he worked under National Championship-winning head coach Pete Egbert. At Misericordia, Horne worked primarily with infielders and hitters while also coaching first base. During the 2026 season, the Cougars ranked fifth nationally in NCAA Division III in stolen bases and fourth nationally in hit-by-pitches while producing multiple All-Conference and All-Region selections. Misericordia also led the MAC Freedom Conference in fielding percentage during both the 2025 and 2026 seasons. During Horne's tenure, the Cougars qualified for the MAC Freedom Tournament in both years and advanced to the conference championship series in 2026.
Prior to Misericordia, Horne served as an assistant baseball coach at Wells College, where he worked primarily with infielders and hitters while helping develop multiple All-Conference student-athletes.
In the fall of 2023, Horne served as defensive backs coach at Alfred State College, helping guide two All-Conference selections as the Pioneers captured the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference championship and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Earlier in 2023, Horne served as the infield coach for the Cortland Crush of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
A native of Hicksville, New York, Horne graduated from Wells College in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in sport management. A four-year member of the Wells baseball program, he primarily played second base while also seeing time at shortstop, third base, and in the outfield. Horne was a two-time team captain and remains the program's all-time leader in hit-by-pitches.
As a senior, Horne was named Wells College Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned United East Conference All-Sportsmanship honors in both 2022 and 2023.
Horne completed his Master of Business Administration with a specialization in sport management from Misericordia University in the spring of 2026.
"We are excited to welcome Joe and his family to the Red Barons community," added Bushey. "His work ethic, recruiting background, and commitment to student-athlete success make him an outstanding fit for our department and our institution. We look forward to supporting his vision as he begins this new chapter leading our baseball program."
