Men's basketball coach Bill Limoncelli was able to secure his 100th career coaching victory at CCC with a 59-56 win at Broome CC on February 13. The Hornets put up quite a fight and didn't make things easy for the Red Barons. Corning led by as many as six-points late in the game but Broome managed to keep things close and with 5.7 seconds left, the scoreboard showed a mere one-point Corning lead. After a BCC attempted shot to take the lead, Markee Brown was able to reel in the miss and was immediately fouled and sent to the free throw line. The cool sophomore connected on both ends and put CCC up by 3. Brown ended the day with 20 points and Will Griffin added 17 for the Barons. Broome inbounded the ball and took a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer that went wide, enabling Corning to escape the Hornets nest with Limoncelli's 100th win.
Limoncelli has been on the Corning sidelines as the men's head basketball coach for the past nine seasons. In 2006, he was named the MSAC Conference Coach of the Year and that year the Barons advanced to the Region III Final Four. Twelve of his players have earned all-conference recognition, seven have received all-region honors and one former player is currently playing in the NBA-D League. Limoncelli owns a career record of 102-144 and is only the second men's basketball coach at CCC to amass over 100 wins.
