Grace Talbut (Vestal, NY) has signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent (LOI) to play softball and attend SUNY Corning Community College next Fall. Talbut, a true utility player, helped lead Vestal HS to the 2019 Section IV Class A Championship. The four-year varsity starter hit .480 that season. Talbut also plays field hockey at Vestal where last season the squad won a sectional title, a regional title and advanced all the way to the NYS Final Four. She has played in two travel ball organizations; RBI Lightening and most recently for the NY Lady Rebels. Lady Rebels and Corning Painted Post HS head coach Mike Johnston had this to say about Talbut; "Grace is a grinder, a real dirtdog! She loves the game, can play multiple positions well and is a team player. Grace will be a great addition to Coach Johnson and the highly successful CCC Softball program."
"Grace plays this game with a passion and tenacity that I love and hope is contagious", said CCC head coach Stacy Johnson. "When I went to see her play the first thing I noticed was that she was hard-nosed and loved to compete no matter what position she was at. What sold me on this kid was talking to her HS field hockey coach during the softball game. Coach Saxe spoke very highly of Grace's work ethic and desire to grow and get out of her comfort zone. Those are exactly the type of players we try to build this program around. Grace will be a leader for us on and off the field, and I can't wait to begin working with her."
Talbut will major in Exercise Science with career aspirations of becoming a Physical Therapist.
