The Red Barons Softball team started the 2026 season with two solid performances in the circle, and stellar defensive play, to earn the Opening Day sweep of Suffolk CC by scores of 9-1 and 11-0.
The Red Barons Softball team started the 2026 season with two solid performances in the circle, and stellar defensive play, to earn the Opening Day sweep of Suffolk CC by scores of 9-1 and 11-0.
Game One: Chloe Perritt earned the game one win with a two-hit, five strikeout, no walk performance in her first collegiate appearance. Ava Sherman led the offense going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's. Dominika Diaz, Stella White, Raven Gonzales, and Erika David all earned hits and White added 2 RBI's, while Marlee Stanton, David and Makenna Dunbar each had an RBI.
Game Two: Kailey Gardner got the ball and threw a one-hit shutout. Diaz led the offense going 3 for 4, Maddie Gulich went 2 for 2 and White was 2 for 3, as every Corning batter had a hit. Diaz, Gulich and Stanton collected 2 RBI's each.
Corning will next be in action on March 14 as they head to Maryland for an eight-game six day trip where they face four different NJCAA D2 opponents.
