Former D1 Player Kaitlynn Place Joins Red Barons Softball Coaching Staff
Kaitlynn Place named as an Assistant Softball Coach
Kaitlynn Place has joined the Red Barons softball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Place, and Elmira High School product, recently graduated from NCAA D1 Monmouth University where she was a four-year member of the program. Place, a catcher, appeared in 37 games her senior season posting a .467 slugging percentage, .396 on-base percentage, 17 RBI's and 3 homeruns while throwing out 9 runners attempting to steal with a .994 fielding perentage. Place will primarily work with the Red Barons catchers and hitters. Place played her travel ball career for the highly-regarded Conklin Raiders program out of Conklin, NY.
"I could not be happier to have Kaitlynn join our coaching staff", said Head Coach Stacy Johnson. "Kaitlynn had an outstanding high school, travel and collegiate playing career and I am excited to have her begin her coaching career with the Red Barons. I've known Kaitlynn since she was 8 years old and have had plenty of opportunities to interact with her at Corning softball camps over the years as both a camper and instructor. As a player, I admired her competitiveness, work ethic, high softball IQ and pure love for the game. As an instructor, she has the unique ability to relate to her students while gaining respect from them as well. She has a gift for teaching the game. This is a huge addition to our Red Barons softball program as she will make our catchers and hitters better. Our players, and program, will definately benefit by having a former D1 player working with them. By adding Coach Place on our staff, our program just got even better!"
Place resides in Pine City, NY and is currently in the Physical Therapy Doctoral Program at Binghmaton University and gives private softball lessons.
