SUNY CCC Defeats MSAC Rival SUNY Broome
The Corning Community College Women's Basketball team achieved a decisive victory over SUNY Broome, winning 62-33 on Wednesday, November 13th, to improve to 3-0 for the season. The Red Barons applied effective full-court man-to-man pressure, which took its toll on the Hornets, especially in the second half where they outscored Broome 36-18.
TaylorRae Jones led all scorers with 21 points, marking her second consecutive game with over 20 points. The Red Barons showcased depth with five players contributing five or more points. Additionally, Tae Dukes, Jade Duffin, and Davonti'a Loucks combined for an impressive 26 rebounds.
Raiders Use Strong First Quarter to Hand Red Barons Their First Loss of the Season
Fulton Montgomery CC took advantage of a powerful first quarter, defeating SUNY CCC and handing the Red Barons their first loss of the season. After falling behind 21-8 in the opening period, the Red Barons fought back and narrowed the deficit to just seven points in the fourth quarter. However, a series of three consecutive turnovers converted into points by FMCC ultimately sealed the Red Barons' fate, leaving them to exit Wayne Kenner Court with a loss.
Jade Duffin had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 12 points and securing eight rebounds. TaylorRae Jones and Tae Dukes contributed with 11 and 8 points, respectively.
The team will next face Erie CC on the road at 5 PM on November 20th, 2024.
